Baby Pit Bull

Hey y'all I have an all black puppy Pit-Bull that I am trying to get rid of. I got him for free at an animal shelter from a lady who could no longer take proper care of him. I would love to keep him, but my current landlord does not allow pets.

He's cute and adorable. Loves to cuddle and play. He loves attention and will cry for it. He loves running up and down the satirs. A lil bit nosy at times.
My boyfriend and I are in the process of training him to use the bathroom outside. He's catching on real quick.

Intersquad Scrimmage

Tomorrow, November 19 2008, will be the track team's annual intersquad meet. Blue Streak vs. Grey Ghost!!! We have upgraded this year and will be taking not one, not two, but three vans to the track in Mt. Pleasant. (ooa ooa)

I am on Blue Streak and will be competing in my colors. I must say BODLY that Grey Ghost is going down - Losers - Yeah.

So far, with 3 events done, I believe it's a tie. Grey Ghost won the throwing events - whatever. But Blue Streak won both the long and high jump. So, tomorrow's track event will determine the winner - BLUE STREAK!!!

I will be competing in the 300m and my new favorite, the 60mHH.

We will be leaving The Citadel at 3pm so I might be late for the TV station tour (channel 5). I am apologizing in advance Professor Aselage. Please forgive me. Thank you :)

"Legalize It"

We had a 3-5 min presenatation on any topic of our choice. The hardest part was choosing a topic cuz there are a million things I wanted to talk about: Jamaica, the importance of exercizing, JA vs. USA, and many more... then my brain start doing that thing again and before you knew it I found the perfect topic. Cannabis sativa and why it should be legalized. There was a lot of fun and laughter in preparing for the presentation. You would not believe all the crazy-funy pictures and misconceptions about the plant available on the web.
Well, I will be presenting today in class. So which me luck and calmness.

P.S. I am not a smoker. However, I strongly believe it should be legalized. The +ve far outweighs the -ve. If alcohol and tobacco can be leagal, why not Cannabis? It has over 50, 000 uses and benefits. Plus, it is not lethal...

I'll have patience cuz good things come to thoe who wait. One day...it will be - and "glaucoma patients won't be the only ones having all the fun"

Halloween

I DID IT!!!!

I went out and bought a costume. I mean I went the whole 9 yards - I think. I bought an entire costume: stockings, hat and all. I did like my costume. I was a "GANGSTA".

However, my Halloween experience was ruined when my friends decided to go to Saloon downtown. It was fun - just not for me. Not my style. I didn't even know 1/2 the songs. I was like WTF am I doing here...lol But everyone else was having a BLAST. Just not me. Maybe it's cuz I'm from JA and we know how to have FUN.

The worse part wasn't that Saloon wasn't my style. It was the fricking COLD! I was freazing my lil rear off. That right there made me decide that I probably won't celebrate Halloween again. They should move it up to the summer time.

First Halloween

Halloween is not celebrated in Jamaica, where I'm from. I have been in the USA for about 4 years now. However, I was "locked" up at The Citadel. So, now that I have graduated, I am on a mission to attend my first halloween party. I am excited!!! But there is one problem. I do not know where to go. So any ideas or if anyone knows of any good parties, please fill a sister in. Thank you!!!

"FROM JAMAICA, WITH SPEED...AND STRENGTH"

Kingston natives survive Citadel's rigors, shine at SoCon championship meet

Published on 03/14/07BY JEFF HARTSELLThe Post and Courier

A week after she first heard the words "The Citadel," Jodi Whittle was on a plane from Kingston, Jamaica, to Charleston.
All she knew was that a track and field scholarship awaited her in the U.S., at a school she had some vague idea was connected to the military.
Whittle, a standout sprinter at the Convent of Mercy Academy in Kingston, awoke at 5 o'clock that morning in 2005 to take a bus to the airport, saying goodbye to her family. She missed her first flight out of Jamaica, and so missed her connecting flight. She arrived in Charleston at midnight, tired, hungry, with no money and no clue.
But waiting there at the airport was Citadel assistant track coach Kris Kut.
"He saw I was hungry and took me to the Burger King," Whittle recalled. "I always get the No. 1 meal at Burger King. So that was good."
Thus began the Citadel journey of Whittle, a junior, and her countrywoman, sophomore weight-thrower Monique Edwards. The pair of Kingston natives, who arrived at The Citadel sight unseen and a year apart, have survived the shock of their freshman years and are thriving on the track and in the classroom, and may open up a new Jamaican pipeline of talent for Bulldogs coach Jody Huddleston.
"When I go home, I get asked about The Citadel a lot," Whittle said. "And I tell everybody it's an experience. At first, it was shocking and hard. But I tell them in the end, you won't regret it."
Whittle and Edwards first came to Huddleston's attention through former Citadel runner Layne Anderson, an assistant track coach at Iowa. Anderson was recruiting in Jamaica for Iowa, but felt Whittle and Edwards were talented enough to compete in the Southern Conference and referred them to Huddleston and The Citadel.
A week after she got her first call from The Citadel, Whittle was on a plane. Edwards, who went to Walmers High School for Girls in Jamaica, needed to complete more school work before becoming eligible and had to wait a year.
"Jodi came in sight unseen, never having seen The Citadel before," Huddleston said. "Kris did a good job in recruiting of explaining to them that it was a military school, not a normal school. But you don't really understand what you are getting into until you get here, so it was a real eye-opener."
That's an understatement, Whittle said.
"I came straight into Hell Week," she said. "I wasn't used to anything: the weather, the food, people yelling at you. I didn't even know about the uniforms. I brought all my clothes, I had my hair styled and had to cut it off. It was a big shock, but by then it was too late."
Despite the culture shock and homesickness for Kingston's cool breezes and her mom's food, Whittle knew her opportunity for a free education in the U.S. was something she could not turn her back on.
"I'm the first in my family to go to school in America," she said, "the first to get a scholarship. My sister went to college, but she had to get a student loan and that is hard. So I'm glad and lucky that I have a scholarship."
While Whittle was struggling through knob year on her own, Edwards was back home in Jamaica, taking classes in order to become academically eligible. When she followed Whittle to The Citadel last year, she was also following in her friend's footsteps.
"I told Monique some things to expect, but I couldn't tell her everything," Whittle said. "I tried to help her in her knob year. I was there for her every single day, and I hoped I made it easier for her."
Said Edwards, "The driving factor for me was that I had a full scholarship, and that really helped me stay here. Freshman year is meant to be difficult, but my motivation was that I had a scholarship to a really good school. And when I saw Jody had made it, I said, 'OK, I can do it too.' "
Edwards and Whittle, both majoring in business administration, recently finished the indoor track season — both made the SoCon finals at the league's championship meet, Edwards in the 20-pound weight throw and Whittle on the 4x400 relay team — and are now competing in the outdoor season.
"It's a neat story for both of them," Huddleston said. "As tough a situation as it was when they came here, as lonely and homesick as they both were, they knew they were in a good situation for their future. The kids on the team were very supportive and took them under their wing, and they made it through."

Midterm

What is the point of having a booklet for an exam. I just took a midterm that had over 20 pages of questions. That proves nothing in my opinion because after, say 5 pages the brain goes blank. OMG i was so upset and tired of reading. WTF!!!

Daddy's Girl

If you didn't know, now you do. I am a daddy's girl. I even look like my dad. We have similar middle names(George and Georgia), and most of all, we have LOVE.

I miss my daddy though. I have been in the United States since August of 2004 furthering my education. I am now obtaining my MBA (whoa). The worst part is being away from daddy. I've seen him twice since then and it stinks. I wish Jamaica was 2 hours away. I would even settle for 10 hours (driving, that is). I could and never will understand Americans when they don't appreciate their parents being in just driving distance, or even a button press away (cell phone).
I love my dad for all he has done. I know it had to be hard being alone. Now I can look back and thank him for his "tough love" cuz it has turned two girls into beautiful, inspiring and successful women.
Mi luv yuh daddy - u a di bes. Nuff rispek zeen.

Time is definitely a commodity!!!

I thought that life would be easier after graduating from college, at least for a couple months or so. But Golly I've been going back to back from work (7am - 2:45) to track practice (3:20 - 5) to class (5:45 - 8:30).

I AM YOUNG AND WANT TO HAVE FUN AGAIN!!!!

But i can't complain cuz i love living on my own and being independent. I guess it's the price i pay.

False Profit!!

I learned something in Economic class today made me so upset: economic profit. Economic profit is calculated similar to accounting profit except it includes the cost of the decision one chooses to forego (implicit cost or opportunity cost). My question is why would you include the cost of an alternative that you chose to forego? If you choose an option or alternative, be committed to it. Don't tease yourself with what if's and could haves.

Accounting says that profit = revenues - cost. However,
Economic says profit = revenues - implicit cost or opportunity cost

So for example, the profit for the owner of a beer company would be (according to accounting)

Lets say:

$100000 - $30000 = $70000 (per yr)

This is what an economist would say:

Lets say the opportunity cost of owning a beer company is $80000 per

100000 - 30000+80000 = (10000) A LOST!!!

This is just ridiculous to me and makes no sense. It doesn't seem realistic!

This is my opinion. I just learned this concept approximately an hour ago, so I might be wrong. Maybe I haven't grasp it yet. But at this moment in time, I think it is FALSE PROFIT or LOSS!!

R.I.P. Will Wilson

Will Wilson, a former cadet and teammate passed away Sunday night from a hit and run that occured Thursday evening in Columbia.

Will was definitely an inspiration. Though he didn't speak much, his actions were definitely loud and clear (both on the track and in the classroom).
